Requirements for program completion and awarded degrees
Requirements for program completion
Program completion is recognized for doctoral students who: enroll in the department for at least the standard program duration of three years (or longer for any authorized extended enrollment); complete courses and earn credits with a GPA (grade point average) of 2.0 or greater as required by the student's program for the intended doctoral degree; receive necessary research guidance; and pass a doctoral thesis review and final examinations.
- The program may be completed in a shorter period in the case of an outstanding achievement after at least one year of enrollment.

TED Program: Doctor of Engineering degree, and PSD and Science Programs: Doctor of Science degree
- The research agenda of the thesis is useful in engineering terms, has a universal scientific value, or appropriate in other ways;
- The research method in the thesis is appropriate (e.g., experiment method, calculation method, etc.);
- Research results and consideration are appropriate, logical, and original; and
- The structure and expressions used in the thesis are appropriate.
PED Program: Doctor of Engineering degree
- The research agenda of the thesis is useful in engineering terms or appropriate in other ways;
- The research method in the thesis is appropriate (e.g., experiment method, calculation method, etc.);
- Research results and consideration are appropriate, logical, and original; and
- The structure and expressions used in the thesis are appropriate.
Awarding of degrees
A Doctor of Engineering degree or a Doctor of Science degree is awarded upon the successful completion of a doctoral program of the department.
